ROCKY THAR

While much of the Thar is sandy, Jodhpur sits on a basin of intense lava flows that covered large parts of north-western Rajasthan some 750 million years ago. Above the volcanic rock lies paler sandstone that is mined and utilized so much in this region. All of Rao Jodha Park is made of Rhyolite and Welded tuff- the volcanic rock you see in this image. What are plants that grow in bare rock called? Swipe right to find out! Scroll below for images of some classic rock-loving plants you'll find at Rao Jodha Park.
